Nebula Filter S-II 2-inch 12nm
We introduce this High quality and functional Nebula Filter S-II 2-inch 12nm. The brightening of the sky at night is the greatest obstacle to observing faint objects beyond the solar system and the turbulence in the air. Other artificial lighting and street lights mean that the atmosphere in human settlements is no longer appropriately black. As an outcome, the contrast and thus the perception of the deep-sky objects also suffer. However, depending on the type of celestial object, part of the interfering light can be filtered out, making it easier to observe the things.
This S-II filter by Explore Scientific uses the property of the so-called emission mist. Those objects glow in specific colors, the so-called emission lines. The emission lines are linked to particular chemical elements - in this case, ionized sulfur. The S-II nebula filter blocks all other colors (and thus almost all artificial light) and only lets through the emission lines of the "672 nm" ionized sulfur. The effect is impressive: Suddenly, fog becomes visible in places that appear empty without a filter. There are many planetary nebulae; when the sky is slightly brightened, emission nebulae and supernova remnants are seen completely problem-free when using this filter—a must for every amateur visual astronomer and astrophotography.
The mist filters by Explore Scientific are supplied with an individual test report - to be sure that you are receiving high-quality filters. Buy to see it for yourself! Add to cart now!
